like-the-one-that-stryker-sniped: I understand what you mean now. It's a pretty disappointing realization because I love Doctor Who so much.
It can be difficult trying to reconcile problematic elements of, for example, a television show with your love for said show however it’s not impossible.
I love Doctor Who. I really, really love it. I love how it spans generations and I love how there is such a variety of people who are fans of the show. I love how each week can be a totally different genre. I love The Doctor, I love the companions, I love The TARDIS.
Realising it has some seriously problematic elements doesn’t mean Doctor Who can’t still be enjoyed. It is disappointing, but it doesn’t erase the awesome or empowering moments of the show.
It’s a tricky balancing act, but it can be done. :)
